LEMONS HEADERS INC.
’62-’67 CHEVY II- HEIDTS, CHECKERED, MARTZ FRONT CLIP
PART # BBR-532
Header Specs:
This header is designed for any tube size UP TO 2 ½” with any collector size UP TO 5” or our collector mufflers UP TO a 6” size. All of the tubes are inside the frame with good ground clearance and spark plug access..
What Fits:
With a 2 ½” primary size, the bottom of the header is about ¾” below a stock oil pan. Measuring from the side of a stock oil pan, we have 1 ¾” of room at the top of the pan and 2 ¼” of room at the bottom of the pan for side sump kick outs and 2 7/8” on the driver side. With no kick outs the oil filter is easily accessible, but if the sump kick out is under the filter, the filter may be trapped.
We designed this header with a Hitachi mini starter, but almost any mini starter will fit. We recommend the Power Master #9540 starter. A stock full sized GM starter will not fit. The header will fit side motor mounts and motor plates. The engine must stay in the stock location. It will fit the Heidts inner fender well panels, but will not fit stock air conditioning, stock clutch linkage or column shifter. You can keep your column shifter, but you will have to get aftermarket shifter linkage from Lokar or I Did It. They both offer mechanical linkage and cable shifter systems.
We offer Power Master #9540 starters.
Installation:
We build our race headers with individual tubes and slip on collectors for easier installation and more HP. If we are building your header as all one piece in the pro-tour style then the header will have to be installed as the engine is being installed with the steering column removed between the 2 “U” joints.
To install the race header with individual tubes and slip on collectors, the engine can stay in place, but remove the starter, oil filter & spark plugs. On both sides install the tubes from front to back leaving the header bolts loose so the tubes can move freely until all tubes are installed then snug the header bolts, but don’t tighten them until the collectors are installed then go back and tighten all the bolts. See our Header Installation Tips page for more info.
Note:
It is important that you read our Yellow (Header Installation Tips) page before installing your new Lemons Headers, it will make installation much easier and save you time.
