Here's a fun car for you!
We are offering one of the 190 1964 Indianapolis 500 Mustang Pace Car Coupes!
Registered in the Early Mustang Pace Car Registry.
The 48th International 500-Mile Sweepstakes was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 30, 1964. The race was won by AJ Foyt.
"The 190 hardtops were distributed to winners of the FOMOCO “Checkered Flag” and “Green Flag” contests.
This was a special competition between dealerships in order to distribute the planned pace car replicas to be released for sale to the public. The competition consisted of “Checkered Flag” and “Green Flag” contests that were based on the sales performance of the dealerships prior to the April 17, 1964 introduction of the Mustang. The top five performers in each district would receive a pace car replica for free, or at a significant discount, based on their final standings in the sales contest. With 36 districts this added up to 180 replicas, however, because of dealership ties and strong performances, approximately 10 extra replicas were made, bringing the total to an estimated 190. Representatives from the 105 winning dealerships were invited to Dearborn for a special celebration, where the keys to their replicas were handed over by Mr. Lee Iacocca himself. Each of the replicas were coupes painted in Pace Car White (paint code “C” for 64 1/2) and had white interiors with blue appointments (code “42”)." Source: 64½-66 Mustang page of Klaus 11/5/2013
We purchased this car to companion our 1964 Indy 500 Winner Sheraton Thompson Special Driven by AJ Foyt Tribute Car.
It has been an honor to own both cars.
What a great time to own an early Mustang while celebrating Mustang's 60th Anniversary!
The Mustang Pace Car was restored as shown by a previous owner.

The Pace Car runs and drives great!
Starts up quickly!
Peppy!
Headers and dual exhaust sound great!
Transmission Shifts as it should.
Suspension feels good and the car handles like it did 60 years ago!
Just remember it has 4 wheel drum brakes! No ABS.
It has a posi-traction rear differential.
Much of the window trim and windows are original to the car. Tinted windshield was replaced.
Tires are in great condition showing little wear.
The shiny paint and body shows very well for it's age. It's "driver" quality. It has minor chips, scratches, bumps.
A good looking original interior appears to have been re-upholstered and new carpeting.
