Actually, the car's not in a barn...rather, it’s been sitting on jack-stands in my garage for the past 30 years patiently waiting to be put on the street or track. But now, lack of time, other pending projects and a need for more garage space has compelled me to sell it.
The Camaro was acquired back in the 1990s with the intent of taking a stock car and making subtle modifications to improve its performance. The car was transported to NHRA National events as part of a display our firm did for Weiand —then an NHRA Major Sponsor. Along the way, friends from other sponsoring companies on the Manufacturer’s Midway helped with the mods. The project was followed in the pages of National Dragster. Upgrades included an A-1 turbo-hydro and higher stall converter, B&M shifter, Koni shocks, MSD ignition, new rear end gears, Center Line wheels and Firestone tires. It ran high 13s in street trim.
At the end of the season the engine was pulled from the car and plans were made to replace it with a Weiand-supercharged 350 c.i.d. engine and emissions-legal components —including a Comp cam. That’s as far as it got.
The body is straight and equipped with a fiberglass cowl induction hood. It’s all white, with a grey accent on the rocker panel. A pile of parts, including the block, heads, supercharger, carb, cam, lifters, internal components, trans and converter come with it. Bring a trailer.
