It’s a long story. The engine in my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee had logged about 225,000 miles before the requiring a rebuild. But rather than simply drop in a crate engine, it was decided to rebuild it using the best possible aftermarket components. The build was to be covered in Buckaroo Publications’ 4x4 magazine.
Unfortunately, the publication folded many years ago and the article never saw the light of day. And after getting the Jeep running and smog inspected, it was parked. And has been ever since. The owner has too many other projects. So the Jeep and engine must go.
Here’s what’s in the 5.2L Magnum V8 engine:
• Edelbrock aluminum heads
• Manley stainless steel valves
• Crane aluminum roller rocker arms
• ARP head studs and rocker arm studs
• Speed Pro forged aluminum pistons
• Rebuilt connecting rods with ARP rod bolts
• Balanced crank and rotating assembly
• High volume oil pump and Milodon pan
• ARP polished stainless steel accessory bolts
• Crane hydraulic roller cam and lifters
• Blueprinted RC fuel injectors
• OEM EFI setup on car plus larger aftermarket throttle body
• Mopar Performance finned aluminum valve covers
With some TLC, the buyer could have a potent, reliable 4x4 for street or off-road use. Bring a trailer.
